Blood coral beads

Due to their color and rarity, red coral beads were once held in just as high regard as diamonds, emeralds, sapphires, and rubies. Red coral is found in deep water with a rocky bottom, such as on underwater mountains, under ledges, and in and around caves, where strong currents are often present. Red coral grows at a rate of less than a centimeter per year! That is incredibly slow compared to other corals.

Because red coral works together with red algae, which, as the name suggests, are red, it appears as if the coral itself has that color. However, this color comes purely from the algae, because this coral is naturally white!

The Rich History of Red Coral

Red coral has a rich history dating back centuries. In antiquity, it was believed to possess protective properties, making it a popular choice for amulets and jewelry. A red coral necklace was hung around a child's neck for protection against evil influences. For this reason, it can also be seen in Christian depictions of Mary with Child. Sailors also often wore red coral as a talisman, believing that it brought good luck and protected them from the fury of the sea. This tradition continues today, where red coral jewelry is highly sought after for its beauty and symbolism.

How Do You Wear a Blood Coral Necklace?

Blood coral necklaces are often worn as statement jewelry for formal occasions, but they can also be subtly paired with everyday outfits. They create a beautiful contrast with simple clothing and add a touch of glamour to any look. Whether it is an evening gown or a casual blouse, a blood coral necklace always adds a touch of sophistication.

Sustainable source of red coral

Most of the damage to coral reefs, of which there are more than two thousand species and only a few are threatened with extinction, is not caused by the jewelry industry. The biggest culprits are fishing, rising water temperatures, and deep-sea oil and natural gas extraction. Because we care deeply about nature, we offer only environmentally responsible and legally sourced coral here.

Sponge coral is colorful but not expensive. The natural colors are red, purple, and yellow, but it is also dyed. It is a common species and therefore sponge coral is not threatened with extinction. It is particularly light compared to gemstones of the same size, and therefore relatively large beads can still be incorporated into necklaces, for example, because they do not weigh much.

How to Wear and Use Blood Coral

As jewelry, red coral is often crafted into necklaces, bracelets, and rings. It is recommended to wear it directly against the skin to experience its full energetic benefits. For meditation, a small piece of red coral can be held in the hand to increase focus and achieve a deeper state of relaxation.

In essence, red coral is much more than just a beautiful piece of jewelry; it is a powerful companion that connects us to the primal forces of nature. Whether worn as jewelry or used as a spiritual resource, red coral remains an intriguing and meaningful stone in the world of gemstones.

Energetic Properties of Blood Coral

Red coral is often associated with energy and vitality. According to ancient beliefs, it has the power to stimulate life force and courage. People like to wear it as an amulet to protect themselves against negative energies and to increase their inner strength. It helps with anemia, high blood pressure, iron deficiency, boils, and teething in babies and children. The stone acts as a hemostatic agent, promotes breastfeeding, and has a positive influence on the legs. Additionally, it gives the wearer self-confidence, courage, and strength.

The hardness of coral is 3-3.5, the density is 2.7
