What is Hydro Quartz?

Hydro quartz (also called synthetic rock crystal) is made artificially. The components of rock crystal are dissolved in water in a special high pressure / high temperature oven. It is warmer at the bottom of the oven than at the top. This causes the dissolved components to rise and crystallize. Synthetic gemstones so manufactured have the same or nearly the same chemical composition as natural gemstones.

Why the name Hydro Quartz?

Hydro comes from the word Hudoor and means in the water in Greek. Rock crystal naturally belongs to the Quartz family.
