Bead reamer: that's how it works

All our pearls and gemstone beads are unique. They sometimes differ just a fraction in size or color. And that's what makes them so special. As a result, some holes in pearls or gemstone beads are just a bit too small, are a bit hidden or have a sharp edge. Then a bead reamer is super handy! A bead reamer is actually a round diamond file that allows you to make the hole in a bead slightly larger. It basically works just like a regular file, but round.
Making the hole in pearls or gemstone beads a little wider is a precise job, which you have to take the time for. Our bead reamer makes that easier. The slightly thicker tube with extra grip fits comfortably in the hand.

Getting started with the bead reamer

Find the right size file and fix it in the holder. Carefully move the file in the hole of the bead back and forth with a twisting and sawing movement at the same time. It is important that you do it carefully and carefully. So many small, twisting and sawing movements. Check every now and then to see if the hole is big enough for your wire to go through. Never insert the bead reamer so deeply into the bead that it gets stuck, as this can easily break the bead.

If you have been clearing the bead for a while, it is good to blow the grit out of your bead in between and to cool the bead clearer with water.

Does a pearl or gemstone bead have sharp edges or burrs at the hole? You can also easily smooth those with the bead reamer.

Job done? You can safely store the three different files supplied in the tube after use.

Tip:

Do not use this bead reamer on soft materials such as wooden beads. The files can then clog.
